How does the Health Information Technology Stimulus affect me? 

As you may be aware the Center for Medicare Services along with Medicaid, began in 2011 paying financial  incentives from $44,000 to $63,750 per eligible provider, and much larger amounts to Hospitals for the “Meaningful Use” of “Certified” Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.  To take full advantage of the stimulus, Hospitals and providers must look to adopt a fully certified EHR system as soon as possible and start working towards meeting the requirements of “meaningful use”. Failure to meet “Meaningful Use” will cause a Hospital and/or Provider to be deemed ineligible to receive stimulus payments even if a “certified” EHR system is installed.
